• ½ cup baking soda
• ½ cup powdered borax
• ¼ cup dried herbs, ground in a mortar and pestle (Suggested herbs: basil, bay leaf, chamomile, lavender, peppermint, spearmint, scented geranium, thyme)

Optional: add five to ten drops of essential oils, especially citrus oils for additional cleaning power.

Mix all the ingredients and place them in an airtight container. Sprinkle onto surfaces and scrub with a damp sponge.

Carpet Deodorizer 🌸

Add a wonderful, naturally fresh fragrance to your home with these blends. If you use borax powder, the mixture will also help deter fleas because it acts as a desiccant for flea eggs and larvae living in the carpet.

• 1 cup baking soda or borax powder
• ¼ cup dried, crushed herbs (mint, lavender, bay leaf, rosemary, eucalyptus, chamomile)
• 20 to 40 drops of essential oils (the amount depends on the oils used, some are stronger)

Mix all ingredients in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. Shake well to combine and store in a cool, dark place or use immediately. Make sure to label the jar!

To use, sprinkle lightly onto carpets and leave for several hours or overnight. Vacuum up the powder and throw away the vacuum cleaner bag if you used a lot of powder. Some vacuum cleaner manufacturers recommend against using carpet powder, so follow the instructions that came with your device.

For added effect in flea control, work the powder into the carpet with a broom and vacuum up visible excess from the carpet.

Suggested mixes:

• Citrus Dream: Use dried lemon balm, lemon thyme and lemon verbena and add lemon, orange and mandarin essential oils .
• Christmas Blend: Use powdered cinnamon, dried rosemary and ground orange peel with essential oils of cinnamon, fir, mandarin and incense.

Herbal Floor Cleaner 🍃

• 1 liter of strong herbal tea
• ½ cup herbal vinegar
• 2 tablespoons of powdered borax

To prepare the tea:

Steep one cup of dried herbs or two cups of fresh herbs in two liters of water. Let sit until cool, then strain before using.

Mix all ingredients in a spray bottle and spray on floors. Wipe with a sponge or sponge mop. For heavily soiled areas, spray and let sit for a minute before mopping.
